Why Florida Crews Reach for the AMIRA
The ARRI AMIRA camera rental is the call when your production needs ALEXA-grade images in a body a single operator can carry all day. The AMIRA runs the same Super 35 CMOS sensor as the ALEXA family, with 14+ stops of dynamic range and the color science that colorists trust on features and broadcast series alike. If you’re shooting documentary, unscripted, or any long-form content where speed matters as much as image quality, this is the camera.

What separates the AMIRA from other shoulder-mount cameras is the built-in workflow. In-camera 3D LUTs let you monitor in a creative grade from take one, so your DP and director see a consistent look on set instead of flat, de-saturated video. The three-stage internal motorized FSND filter framework (0.6, 1.2, 2.1) handles Florida’s brutal midday sun without requiring external matte box filters, which matters when you need to move fast between locations. Add a 13-second boot time and you have a camera that’s ready before your talent finishes their first coffee.
We recently had a documentary crew from Miami running an AMIRA through a multi-day shoot in the Everglades. The shoulder balance meant the operator could work for four-hour stretches without swapping to a tripod, and the internal NDs kept exposure consistent as the light changed from morning overcast to flat noon sun. What surprised them was how clean the audio section is: with physical XLR inputs and phantom power on the body itself, they ran a boom and a lav without a separate audio mixer slowing them down between setups.
High-speed capability rounds out the package. The AMIRA records up to 200 fps in HD and 2K, which opens slow-motion opportunities on any production without scheduling a separate high-speed camera day. For Fort Lauderdale commercial crews covering events, sports, or branded content where you might need a slow-motion hero shot on the same body as your A-cam, that flexibility is hard to put a number on.
Media is CFast 2.0, which keeps storage costs reasonable. ProRes HQ is the most common codec choice for broadcast and streaming delivery, but the AMIRA also supports ARRIRAW for productions where maximum post-production latitude is the priority. Every ARRI AMIRA camera rental leaves our prep bay sensor-cleaned, back-focus checked, and firmware-updated before it ships.

ARRI AMIRA Rental FAQ
What lens mount does the ARRI AMIRA use?
The AMIRA ships with an ARRI LDS PL mount, compatible with the full range of PL cinema lenses including ARRI Master Primes, Cooke S4/i, and Zeiss Ultra Primes. EF and B4 mount adapters are also available, giving the AMIRA access to Canon EF stills lenses and broadcast B4-mount zooms. Moving Picture Rental carries a full selection of PL and EF mount lenses to pair with your AMIRA package.
What productions is the ARRI AMIRA best suited for?
The AMIRA is built for documentary, broadcast news, unscripted content, and any production where a single operator needs to move fast. Its shoulder-mount ergonomics, internal NDs, on-board XLR audio, and 13-second boot time make it a strong choice for run-and-gun work where a bulkier cinema camera rig would slow the crew down.
Does the ARRI AMIRA shoot 4K?
Yes. When equipped with the Premium license or 4K UHD update, the AMIRA records 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) directly to CFast 2.0 cards at up to 60 fps in ProRes. For documentary, broadcast, and streaming deliverables, its ALEXA ALEV III sensor produces exceptional dynamic range and color rendition in both 4K UHD and 2K modes.
What media does the AMIRA use, and what cards should I order?
The AMIRA records to CFast 2.0 cards. For ProRes HQ at standard frame rates, a 256GB CFast 2.0 card gives you roughly 60 minutes of record time. For high-speed 200 fps work, plan for faster data throughput and bring extra cards. Moving Picture Rental includes CFast cards with the AMIRA rental; confirm quantities when you request your quote.
