The LiteMat Plus 2L rental is the DMX-controlled version of the standard LiteMat 2L S2. Same panel, same output, same everything—except this one has 5-pin XLR DMX built in so you can run it from a lighting console instead of manual controls.
For most Florida production work, the standard 2L S2 is fine. But if you’re doing multi-camera studio setups, broadcast work, or any job where a gaffer needs console control over multiple fixtures, the Plus 2L makes sense. We stock both models because different workflows need different tools.
The LiteMat Plus 2L weighs 2.9 pounds and puts out 5,470 lumens at 6000K. It draws 100W, which means solid battery life on Gold Mount batteries—about 90 minutes at full output on a 95Wh battery, 3+ hours on a 190Wh. The hybrid color temp covers 2600K tungsten through 6000K daylight, and the DMX runs over standard 5-pin XLR.
Color science is CRI 95+ and TLCI 95+ at daylight, CRI 97+ and TLCI 96+ at tungsten. Same numbers as the rest of the LiteMat family, so everything color-matches if you’re mixing different fixtures.
When You Actually Need DMX on a 2L Panel
We rent the Litegear LiteMat Plus 2L mostly for broadcast studios and multi-camera corporate setups. News desk lighting where you’re controlling a bank of fixtures from a single console. Corporate training videos shot in permanent studio spaces with programmed lighting cues. Live webcasts where you need repeatable lighting looks across multiple shows.
The DMX control lets you gang multiple Plus 2L units together and adjust them all simultaneously. Change color temperature across your entire fill light setup with one command. Dim everything proportionally. Run lighting cues that transition between different looks. That control matters when you’re doing repetitive work in a controlled environment.
For work in Miami convention centers, Orlando corporate studios, or Tampa broadcast facilities, the Plus 2L fits into professional workflows where manual dimming isn’t practical.
If you’re shooting standard commercial or corporate content where you set the light once and it doesn’t move, rent the standard LiteMat 2L S2 instead. The Plus version only makes sense when DMX is part of your actual workflow.
Console Integration
The Plus 2L works with any DMX512 console via 5-pin XLR. ETC, Chamsys, MA Lighting, Avolites—standard theater and broadcast consoles all work. The fixture responds to dimming and color temperature commands through the DMX protocol.
You can add wireless DMX transmitters if you need cable-free operation. The fixture itself just has wired DMX in/out, so you’d need to provide your own wireless system.
The Plus 2L also has manual controls on the power supply, so you can use it without DMX if needed. The DMX is optional—the fixture works fine in standalone mode too.
