MPR Says: The tiny but mighty FX3 camera, a little brother to the FX9 & FX6. Some might say this is an A7S III with a different outer shell. But does the A7S III give you two full-size XLR inputs? Does it have S-Cinetone? Tally lights? The FX3 brings all these things to the small and compact mirrorless world!
Low light performance! Don’t let the 12.1MP sensor scare you. This sensor is just for you if you are a videographer/cinematographer. The low megapixel count means that the photosites in the digital sensor are larger, thus letting in more light, so you can now shoot those low-light scenes you have been dreaming of 🙂
Rolling shutter: This FX3 camera’s rolling shutter performs well due to its processor. The sensor’s design incorporates a Fast Hybrid AF system for subject tracking and quick focusing.
Discreet and compact camera body: The compact addition of the FX3 to Sony’s Cinema Line blends the full-frame, S-Cinetone capture of the FX6 with the UHD 4K capture. The video-first design of the FX3 also shares several handling and audio features with the FX6. It also uses the same batteries as the a7S III. You can mix, cut, and match the FX3 with all the Sony Cinema Line Cameras. If you want to travel light but pack a punch, the FX3 is a great choice!
Codec Flexibility: Like the FX9, you can control audio channels on the operator side and a set of arrow keys to navigate the menu. The camera uses the same CFexpress Type A cards as the FX3, which are more than enough to handle all codecs.
Compatibility with other Sony Cinema Line cameras: allows for seamless integration into multi-camera setups, providing flexibility and consistency across your projects.
Shooting in Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers, or Miami? The Sony FX3’s compact and robust design is a valuable addition to your package. Renting a Sony Fx3 Full-Frame Camera body before you buy is always a great idea.
