MPR Says
The Sony Venice rental package is the call when the DP needs a full-frame 6K cinema camera with IMAX certification and zero compromises on set. Features, high-end commercials, music videos shot on 35mm-equivalent glass, virtual production stages — the Venice is what goes in the camera cart when image quality is the non-negotiable variable and everything else gets figured out around it. Moving Picture Rental keeps the Venice in our Fort Lauderdale prep bay, camera-tested, firmware-current, and ready for your production dates.
The sensor is a 36x24mm full-frame CMOS — the same physical size as a 35mm film frame — capturing up to 6048×4032 (6K 3:2) or 6054×3192 (6K 17:9). 15+ stops of dynamic range. Dual base ISO at 500 and 2500, giving you a clean path from a fully lit studio in Miami to a low-light night exterior without swapping bodies.
The ISO 2500 mode maintains full 15-stop latitude — 6 stops over and 9 stops under 18% middle gray. That is not a spec sheet number. That is the reason this camera is on feature sets where the lighting budget runs out before the shooting day does.
The Venice carries an 8-step servo-controlled mechanical ND system built directly into the chassis, ND0.3 to ND2.4. No external filter swaps, no back-focus drift, no lost time. This is significant on a Tampa exterior shoot where Florida sun changes fast and your gaffer is already problem-solving the next setup. The ND responds instantly, operates remotely, and works in underwater housings and on crane heads without a separate operator touching the glass.
Lens mount is PL standard, E-mount available via a 6-screw swap. That covers your full vintage and modern PL ecosystem — Cooke S4/i, ARRI Master Primes, Zeiss Supreme, anamorphics — and opens E-mount for Sony cine glass and adapted SLR lenses. The Anamorphic license unlocks 4:3 and 6:5 capture modes for 2x squeeze production on Super35 full height.
Sony Venice rental from MPR includes the camera body with PL mount and standard accessories. Confirm your lens package with our team when you request a quote and we will build the full kit.

Frequently Asked Questions — Sony Venice Rental
What licenses does the Sony Venice require for full-frame and anamorphic shooting?
The Venice ships with Super35 and 4K shooting enabled by default. The Full-Frame License unlocks 6K full-frame capture (6048×4032 max). The Anamorphic License enables 4:3 and 6:5 anamorphic modes for 2x squeeze production. The High Frame Rate (HFR) License unlocks speeds up to 120fps at 4K and 60fps at 6K. Moving Picture Rental can advise on which licenses are included with your rental kit — confirm with our team when booking.
Is the Sony Venice Netflix approved and IMAX certified?
Yes to both. The Sony Venice is approved for Netflix original productions and certified for the Filmed in IMAX program. It is one of the few cameras that qualifies for both programs, making it the right choice for productions that require verified delivery standards from acquisition through post.
What recording formats does the Sony Venice support?
Internally, the Venice records XAVC 4K, Apple ProRes, and MPEG HD to SxS memory cards. With the optional AXS-R7 external recorder, it captures 16-bit RAW and X-OCN (16-bit eXtended tonal range Original Camera Negative) to AXS cards. X-OCN is Sony’s proprietary format combining the latitude of 16-bit RAW with practical file sizes for high-resolution production workflows.
Can the Sony Venice sensor block be separated from the camera body?
Yes. The Venice Extension System (CBK-3610XS or CBK-3620XS) allows the sensor block to be physically separated from the camera body by up to 12 meters using an extension cable. This is used for remote head work, gimbal configurations, underwater housing, and crane-mounted setups where the full camera body cannot be placed at the lens position. Confirm Extension System availability with Moving Picture Rental when building your kit.
Can I get same-day or next-day delivery of the Sony Venice in Miami or Fort Lauderdale?
Moving Picture Rental delivers 7 days a week to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Myers. Same-day delivery is available for confirmed bookings subject to availability. The Venice is prepped from our Fort Lauderdale facility — call our direct line to confirm your production dates and delivery window.
